Couldn’t sleep a few nights ago.  Keep thinking about this friend of mine.  Even tho I do care a lot, sometimes there is really nothing you can do about it.  But I wish things could be different.

Apartment shopping in NY

I remember reading a shopper writing a review about B&H in NY, where he asked for a $6K lens. The guy treated as if he is buying a pack of gum, and asked “how many”. I feel the same way in NY. The real estate market in NY is such that with half a million you can barely get a studio condo apartment. So, I settle to look for a studio coop.

I don’t know about other people in NY, but $400K is a lot of money to me. I certainly don’t have that hiding under my mattress. But to real estate agents and banks, it’s like a pack of bubble gum. I went to Bank of America to get a pre approval today. Nowadays you can do that online, or over the phone. But with my life saving on the line I thought I should go see a person. The woman who helped me has no idea how that application process work, and all she is doing is enter my application for me online. I feel like I am being treated as if I am buying a pack of bubble gum.

During my search process I found this site. streeteasy.com Right now they only do NYC market, but it definitely has potential to expand its services. Basically it craw the agent listings, parse it and using the source and the listing ID as unique identifier, and track all the listing and price change. It also track other listings in the building, rentals and so on. It shows you about neighborhood, what school it belongs to and other statistics, rather than just the price and neighborhood. Needless to say, it got both the technology and the business right.
Selling my stuff to pay for the downpayment. I am not looking forward to the tax retuen.
P.S. streeteasy listen to their user through technorati too, kudo to them

split between 46% INTP and 54% INFP

Alonzo was challeneging my INTP claim. So he sent me several links to retest. I am pretty sure I am INTP based on the descriptions…

INFP – “Questor”. High capacity for caring. Emotional face to the world. High sense of honor derived from internal values. 4.4% of total population.

Free Jung Personality Test (similar to Myers-Briggs/MBTI)
